We try not to leave a drop untapped. There is still a long way to go about this and we hope that we will soon be able to do it. For now, the water from the shower and the sinks is being recycled for watering plants. At the tallest point of the estate we have created a large reservoir for rain collection. Certainly, we still have a lot to learn and do in this area. It is in our intentions to do so.

In an environment like ours, any other form of construction would seem extremely out of place. We chose the construction made of strawbale and wood because it is easy, safe, and above all it creates buildings of excellent bioclimatic condition, but most of all the ecological footprint of these constructions is zero. So, after many years when our descendants will want to return to nature, this return will be easy and effortless.

Since we are facing a great difficulty with our water supply as we are in an area that the aquifer is at a depth of 300m, we could not boast of great vegetable gardens. We are trying to have few natural seasonal species without always great success. The weather in the area, our poor clayey soil and our little water often trouble us. But we do not abandon our efforts.

Having done our experiments, we found that a herb that could grow successfully in the area is Rosemary. We aim at planting an area of about 700 m² with the corresponding plants so that we will soon have another product for processing. Its medicinal properties are infinite. So we wait. It is the next endeavor with regard to the plant kingdom.

Almond Grove Orchard
Considering almonds as one of the most important superfoods, and knowing that almonds were the primary crops tin the area until apricot cultivation arrived (with bad environmental consequences), we wanted to restore the tradition. In the winter of 2017 we planted 40 almond trees of a special variety and we are looking forward to the results. They are fertilized and grown in the most natural and traditional ways.
