About Us
“There are times, when you hear your inner voice, that you can’t back down”, says Hopeland instigator and creator, Family Counselor Erato Hatzimihalaki. “Hopeland started taking form within me, the more I got to understand how dysfunctional the family is, how education fails to inspire love for learning, and how society develops. While searching for solutions I was driven to…”
A project that focuses on the Environment, Tradition, Culture and Personal Development, applying methods that promote sustainability and viability. Hopeland aims at becoming an example of self-sufficiency on all levels. Natural building, natural farming, recycling, respect for nature by minimising the ecological footprint, are all some of its pursuits.
Hopeland is located in a 7.6 acre property in the area of Argolida, northeast Peloponnese, just 130 km from Athens, with century-old olives, its fruit-bearing trees, almond trees and countless herbs. It borders on a forest and boasts five giant yews (preservable by the local Forest Service), as well as an oak tree that is 400 years old. Its strategic position, amidst important tourist attractions like Mycenea, Nafplio, Argos, Ancient Nemea, Tiryns and more, make it a great destination for groups from Greece and abroad who want to live, work and exercise in nature.
The Vision
Hopeland started with the intention and the vision to become a space where parents and children can coexist in nature for a short or long time, while also learning from and teaching each other the importance of unanimity, equality, mutual respect and a love for the environment.
